It was announced even before Mortal Kombat 11 came out that MK 1 villain Shang Tsung was going to be the first DLC character in the game, and now we have a gameplay trailer for the classic villain.
While Shang Tsung mostly changed into different characters in the original game, it looks like his transformations will be limited to the different colored ninjas like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Rain, Ermac, Smoke, Noob Saibot, and Reptile. It also looks like he has the ability to turn into whoever he's currently fighting only—we wouldn't want him to be too powerful.
It's fun though that his fatality has a cameo from Kintaro. I wonder who else he could summon in the fight.
I think it's an interesting way to go with the character, and I'm sure a lot of players are excited to see the modern take on Shang Tsung. The trailer also announced several other classic characters coming to the game like Nightwolf and Sindel. We also have confirmation that Spawn will be a playable character plus two more mystery ones. If the leaks are right, then we could be getting a playable Ash from Evil Dead as well as the T-800 from Terminator.
Early access for Shang Tsung takes place on June 18. Mortal Kombat 11 is now playable for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
