On May 1st, Netflix released a title announcement for the upcoming show. The short clip also revealed that the next season of the show will focus on Lyle and Erik Menendez' murder case.
The upcoming season will be entitled Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
The show will follow the format of Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story in the sense that it will look into the crime, perpetrators, and the trial that they faced.
What Did Lyle and Erik Menendez Do?
Lyle and Erik Menendez are two brothers who were convicted of murdering their own parents in 1989. The two confessed to their crime months after the death of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez.
The crime was committed at the Menedez family's Beverly Hills mansion, which shocked the world at the time of the brothers' confession.
As seen in the title announcement video, a 911 call was made to detail the events of the murder that took place on August 20, 1989. At that time, the two brothers were not considered suspects.
It was only after Erik's psychologist, Jerome Oziler, revealed his patient's crime to the police that an investigation was launched.
At their trial, the two brothers pled guilty and even claimed that the murder was done in self-defense. They revealed that their father had been sexually abusing them.
The two were tried separately. But since the juries could not reach a decision, the court decided to put the two in one trial.
They were then sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Where Are Lyle and Erik Menendez Now?
As of this writing, the two brothers have been serving time at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in Southern California. They have been prisoned there since the trial was held.
Joseph Lyle Menendez (Lyle) is currently 55 years old. Meanwhile, Erik Galen Menendez is currently 52 years old.

Any information regarding the show's casting has been kept under wraps at this time. But the question on everyone's minds is: will Evan Peters return in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story?
Unfortunately, no. Peters will not be returning in the second season of the show. Murphy is currently casting individuals who will be part of the show.
Since the Menendez brothers were born to a Cuban father, we can expect to see their roles be portrayed by actors with the same features.
