It has been a couple of years now since the last new Monogatari anime. Finally, fans can look forward to more as the Monogatari Off Season and Monster Season anime have just been revealed.
The announcement of these new anime projects was made recently with the release of a teaser visual and an official reveal video that highlights some of the series’ major characters.
This reveal also confirms that Aniplex’s previous teasers are for the long-running franchise by Nisio Isin.
Aniplex’s Cryptic Teasers Turn Out to Be for the Monogatari Series
Many anime fans were bewildered over the past week by Aniplex’s cryptic teasers. The anime production giant initially shared two teasers consisting of just one letter each.
The first teaser simply featured the letter 'O' with a blue background. What followed was another teaser that looked similar but with the letter 'M' on a red background.
Fans didn’t have to wait long for the reveal though, as Aniplex finally confirmed that these teasers were for two new Monogatari anime projects titled Off Season and Monster Season.
What’s exciting about these projects is that they will once again be produced by the popular studio Shaft (of RWBY: Ice Queendom and The Quintessential Quintuplets∽ OVA fame).
Also confirmed to return is chief director Akiyuki Shinbo, the director of the previous Monogatari series entries. Joining him are Midori Yoshizawa as the director and Akio Watanabe as the chief animation director.
The announcement comes just a couple of days after the Japanese theatrical release of the Kizumonogatari -Koyomi Vamp- compilation film.

Monogatari Off Season and Monster Season Are Getting Anime Adaptations
Off Season and Monster Season’s anime were revealed in a new video that featured clips from the previous series entries.
The video ends with a look at the key visual, which features popular characters from the series, including Nadeko Sengoku, Suruga Kanbaru, Tsukihi Araragi, Mayoi Hachikuji, and Yotsugi Ononoki.
Monogatari Off Season consists of four novels that feature short stories that take place at certain points throughout the series. Meanwhile, Monster Season is another set of novels set years after the series finale.
Currently, there’s no word yet on whether these new anime are TV shows or films. More info about these will likely be revealed at a later date.
In the meantime, fans in North America can look forward to the theatrical release of the Kizumonogatari compilation film soon.
