The Iron-Blooded Orphans mobile game may be closing shop soon, but fans at least have a new project to look forward to. Mobile Suit Gundam just announced that the Iron-Blooded Orphans Urdr-Hunt mobile game is getting an anime soon.
This was reported by Gundam Info today, and with the announcement came the release of the anime’s first teaser trailer.
Urdr-Hunt isn’t the only new Gundam anime project that’s in the works, but it’s an exciting one for fans of the original Iron-Blooded Orphans anime.
Gundam Returns to Iron-Blooded Orphans in New Anime Project
Mobile Suit Gundam continues to have a large and dedicated following globally, though the series got a much-needed shot in the arm with The Witch from Mercury which premiered last year.
Thanks to this anime, Gundam’s popularity was boosted, especially among casual fans and those who aren’t big on the franchise. Despite its success, there’s no sign of a third season for the series.
Gumdan fans still have lots to look forward to though as there are more anime projects slated for the franchise. For instance, there’s the new Gundam Seed movie which is coming to Japanese cinemas in January 2024.
Along with this, Gundam also revealed that a new anime for the Iron-Blooded Orphans Urdr-Hunt is in the works.
Urdr-Hunt is a mobile game that’s part of the Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS G app which was made as part of the franchise’s 40th anniversary celebration.
The game’s story is set in the same timeline as the Iron-Blooded Orphans anime, though its events take place in between the show’s two seasons.
New Iron-Blooded Orphans is Based on Urdr-Hunt Anime Spinoff
Instead of starring the TV anime’s cast, Urdr-Hunt features a different cast of characters. The game is also unique as it combines gameplay with substantial anime sequences.
Sadly, the mobile game and the app will go offline on January 11, 2024. Fans who weren’t able to play the game can at least experience the story through the upcoming anime adaptation.
Not a lot of details were shared about the upcoming anime, meaning there’s no word yet on whether this will be a TV series or a movie.
There’s also no word on a release date for this new project. Given that there’s already a teaser trailer, chances are that fans won’t have to wait too long for this anime to be released.
