Minecraft 2 Will Not Ever Happen

Minecraft continues to be one of the most popular video games out there, continuing to get a number of updates that expand the title and keeping players who have been playing it since the beginning. No wonder the game has managed to cross into the mainstream, getting a number of children's books and receiving a movie, whenever that comes out.

After the recent announcement of Minecraft: Dungeons, a spinoff that focuses on hacking and slashing, fans have wondered if there would ever be a sequel to the original game. Minecraft head Helen Chiang was asked about this by Business Insider and she said that a sequel won't be happening.

Specifically, Chiang mentioned how a sequel wouldn't make sense when you consider how the game's community is like. Fans constantly make their own fun in the game so Chiang does have a point about a sequel being pointless. The visual style could arguably be changed but then that would make it lose its identity, which is really important to the game's branding.

Chiang also brought up how a sequel might break and divide the game's community and it seems like they don't want that to happen. Who can blame them? The game makes a lot of money and is still fairly popular with players of all ages and genders.

Minecraft is available now on a variety of gaming consoles.
