Microsoft Laid Off Its Xbox Support Team And Replaced Them With Volunteers

It looks like there's a bit of trouble at Microsoft.

The American multinational tech company just recently fired a large chunk of its Xbox support team, replacing its workers with unpaid volunteers.

According to Polygon, around 12 individuals were fired from the company. Though the support team was employed by Affirma Consulting, they mainly worked in the offices of Microsoft.

The publication just recently spoke to two different sources affected by Xbox's decision to lay-off its Xbox support staff and apparently, these sources worked closely with the Xbox Ambassadors, a group trained to handle support requests before the support staff was fired from the company.

Now, according to the publication's sources, the Xbox Ambassadors are the people responsible for handling Xbox Support's Twitter account. The group also takes inquiries that Xbox users make using online chat.

Though the company did keep a few of the original paid support staff to manage the unpaid volunteers, the Ambassadors, Microsoft has continued to keep quit regarding the situation.

"We continue to have a number of highly-trained customer support agents, plus community ambassadors, available to help customers with their needs," Microsoft responded to the publication's request for comment.

This might be a bit troubling for Xbox users. The Xbox Twitter account has more than a million followers and the account processes multiple inquires every day. Though we're not entirely sure what's going on at Microsoft, some are guessing that the company could be making a few changes so that it can hire other people in other departments for Xbox. Hopefully, the Xbox Ambassadors manages to properly look into all the inquiries that Xbox users make day to day.
