Aside from his other acclaimed roles, Oscar-nominated actor Michael Fassbender is also known for playing the younger Magneto in the X-Men prequel films and his performance as the character became as beloved as Ian McKellen's version in the original movies.

Now that the MCU is in the Multiverse Saga and bringing back the actors from the Fox Marvel movies, there have been questions about whether the cast members from the prequels like Fassbender will also return.

So far, there is no indication that they could come back since Marvel Studios is more focused right now on the original actors, but fans would love to see them all return one last time for a proper sendoff.

In his recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Heroic Hollywood), Fassbender was asked about his potential return as Magneto in a future MCU movie.

He believed that his run as the fan-favorite mutant was already over. While he enjoyed playing the role, he felt certain that the chapter had closed for him.

"You know, I think we had a great run. I thoroughly enjoyed it. By the time Dark Phoenix was over, I was like, ‘Well, you know, I was lucky: we had a fantastic run of it,'" Fassbender said.

Based on the actor's comments, it sounded like he is contended with his tenure on the role and is never expecting to reprise the role again in the future since he is also more focused right now on other prestige projects and a career as an auto racer.

Some fans would love to see him and the other actors in the X-Men prequel films return, especially since Dark Phoenix was considered to be a stinker and their comeback could be their one last redemption before their formal goodbye.

Given that the MCU is exploring the multiverse at the moment, there is a possibility for Marvel Studios to bring them all back if they want to. Since there are still more years before the current saga's culmination, there is still some likelihood that it could happen soon.
