MCU Veteran Apologizes for Trashing DCU Star

Since the premiere of the sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods, its lead star Zachary Levi has managed to be at the center of criticism and controversies given the bad reception that his film received, one of which is his debacle with Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock. To add fuel to the fire, MCU’s Anson Mount recently joined in on one of the heated debates online after Levi allegedly dissuaded fans from watching and supporting Keanu Reeves’ John Wick: Chapter 4 film.

However, after mocking the Shazam star, Mount subsequently recognized that the clip was edited by a fan, requiring him to admit his error, so he took it to Twitter to issue a public apology and revealed that he and Levi have also talked in private to settle the matter. “So about a week ago I kinda drugged my friend @ZacharyLevi for a post that had been taken out of context. First of all, even if it hadn’t been taken out of context, that’s just not something someone should do to a friend and colleague.” he wrote.

Mount continued the thread, “When it came to my attention that he’d been taken out of context, I didn’t post a correction. And THEN, of course, what happens? I saw him this weekend, and well, it started to sink in what I had done and I apologized.”

The Marvel star shared that Levi explained where he was coming from which he immensely appreciated. “Zack being THE most considerate and gracious dude was beyond patient and understanding and really took the time to relate his side of things. I’m forever grateful, and I thank him for that,” said Mount.

To conclude his thread, the Doctor Strange actor owned up to his mistake and said what he learned from it. “I did think it important to make the apology public as well. And thank you all for putting up with me too. It truly amazes me sometimes how big of an ass I can be. Ah, well. Humility never tastes good but it sure as hell is nourishing.”

Given Shazam 2’s box-office failure, it could affect its future in the franchise. It’s becoming unlikely that a potential third installment will be in the plans of the DC Studios, especially now that the revamped DCU is in the works and more projects are expected to grace the cinematic universe. Levi previously revealed where he currently stands with the DC bosses regarding his future projects at the franchise.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is still playing in theaters.
