MCU Alum Reveals He's Not Interested to Play James Gunn's Batman

Batman is one of the superhero characters that has been passed down from actor to actor and enjoyed by generation after generation. Fans have seen the cape and cowl donned by Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Robert Pattinson, Michael Keaton, and even Kevin Conroy, David Miller, Warren Christie, and Iain Glen. As James Gunn and Peter Safran build their new DC Universe, one of their upcoming projects is the animated series The Brave and the Bold, based on the comic book story arc Batman and Son. Once the co-CEOs cast their Dark Knight for this saga, whoever he is, he’d be the ninth person to play the character.

Scott Adkins, who’s a former Marvel Studios alum after he portrayed Weapon XI in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Lucian in Doctor Strange and who is currently starring in John Wick: Chapter 4 as Killa, was asked by Screen Rant if he’d be interested in playing Gunn’s Batman for the animated saga. He originally auditioned for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and has been a popular candidate among fans as the search for the next Batman commences again.

“I'll just say no. I'll just go with no. I'll just be happy to get some nice roles in bigger movies. Big movies like John Wick. We'll leave it at that.” said Adkins.

Despite being initially questioned about whether Adkins could play the iconic role given his acting credentials at the time, his leaked audition video and his growth as an actor are making the fans think that he could be a logical choice now. Over the years, the actor has carved out a successful career as an action star. His acting stints in Ninja, Undisputed 3, and the action comedy Day Shift gave Adkins an edge in martial arts skills, which is one of the qualities that the Dark Knight possesses.

Additionally, given that the upcoming film Brave and Bold will feature Batman as a father for the first time, Adkins fits the bill because the casting team would be needing someone at the right age to play dad to a teenager and also one who can handle the action sequences. However, despite the fans' campaign, it might take a lot of convincing for the actor to audition again given his desire to star in substantial movies here and now. The actor's latest film, John Wick 4, sets and breaks records as it records 73.5 million at the box office for its opening weekend.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is now playing in cinemas worldwide.
