Marvel is on the move in building up Marvel Phase Five where they will be starting off with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in February this year. Along with news of Captain America 4 filming date reveal, Thunderbolts is also set to begin filming this year.

Variety also confirmed that Marvel Studios begins shooting in June 2023, 13 months ahead of its slated release, where Louis-Dreyfus, who will play CIA director Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the MCU, gave her word that filming for Thunderbolts will begin this summer.
With Marvel Phase Five building up to the Avengers films, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, there is no doubt that we are sure to see familiar faces of the classic heroes in the early phases. The Avengers films, after all, will not only focus on bringing them back, but even showing the different variants of the classics such as Iron Man, Captain America, and even Black Widow.
Now, Thunderbolts is similar to the concept in a way, since we will be watching a team-up amongst the unlikely group of villains, which includes Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, with Yelena Belova reportedly leading the team.
It is great to see that Marvel Studios is learning from past mistakes of planning the filming start date ahead of time. Given the pandemic and potential delays of filming, especially with the big-name ensemble for a cast, it is crucial that the team in Thunderbolts start suiting up as early as now. Marvel’s Thunderbolts is slated for release in theaters on July 26, 2024, while Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania premieres on February 17, 2023.
