Marvel’s The Eternals Gets Production Start Date And Description

Unlike previous years, Marvel Studios has been keeping mum about its plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Phase 3 of the franchise. However, while the studio has been letting fans focus on Avengers: Endgame, Marvel hasn't been that stingy sharing info about its upcoming prequel movies.

The studio's Black Widow standalone movie is coming along nicely with Star Wars: Episode IX's art director Jim Barr joining the project. Meanwhile, The Eternals, a cosmic prequel film set millions of years before the events of the MCU, has finally been given a production start date.

Production Weekly just recently released a new listing and according to the site's new post, The Eternals is set to begin production in Atlanta on August 1 this year. Atlanta is one of the most common locations for Marvel Studios' productions, so it's no surprise that the cosmic movie is going to be shot in the city.

Now, with a production date set for Chloe Zhao's The Eternals, it looks like the project is finally moving forward. Zhao is going to direct the film with a script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.

While Marvel has yet to reveal the official synopsis of the movie, Production Weekly has a short description of the film, giving fans an idea of what to expect from The Eternals.

"The story of The Eternals is set millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans, creating the super-powered individuals as well as more villainous off-shoots known as the Deviants. The two groups went on to battle each other throughout history to see which would eventually become the ultimate race. The story involves the love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes in moving amongst humans."

Marvel fans might remember seeing some of the Celestials in Guardians of the Galaxy like the Collector and of course Ego, the Living Planet (Kurt Russell), Star-Lord's father (Chris Pratt).

The Eternals has yet to receive a release date but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
