Black Widow Standalone Movie Gets Star Wars: Episode IX Art Director

There've been rumors going around saying that Marvel's Black Widow standalone movie is going to start filming scenes at some point in the next few months and it looks like the studio's slowly been starting work on production. Though the studio has yet to release a production start date for Black Widow, Marvel has already brought in Star Wars: Episode IX art director Jim Barr to join the upcoming female-led comic book movie.

According to a new report by ComicBook.com, Barr has been tapped to join the production of Black Widow, working as an art director along film director Cate Shortland from Berlin Syndrome and screenwriter Jac Schaeffer from Captain Marvel.

Barr is a pretty great choice for Black Widow – the art director's had a whole lot of experience working for Disney. Not only has Barr worked on the production of Star Wars third and final sequel trilogy installment, but he's also done work on Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and of course, Avengers: Infinity War.

With so many Marvel films under his belt, it comes as no surprise that Barr is being brought to work on Black Widow.

Right now, there's a whole lot of excitement building up over the Black Widow standalone movie. Despite being one of the original members of the Avengers, Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff has yet to receive her own standalone film. But now, Natasha finally has her own Black Widow movie on the way, and fans can't wait to see her kick ass on the big screen.

Johansson is set to reprise her role as Black Widow in Avengers: Endgame which premieres April 26, 2019.
