Last year, Marvel Studios released the Werewolf by Night special on Disney+ in celebration of the Halloween season. It was received well by both critics and fans for its unique visuals and direction that is different from the rest of the entries in the MCU.

It was also the first project by Marvel Studios in the "special presentation" format which was followed by The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special a month later. It is still unknown yet if they will release more projects in that format.

Now, as the spooky season is approaching, the beloved special is getting a new version that fans can watch in a different way as part of Disney+'s Halloween celebration.

As reported by Bloody Disgusting, the colored version of Werewolf by Night is coming to Disney+ this coming October 20 titled Werewolf by Night in Color. It is part of the streamer's "Hallowstream" slate.

In addition, the original black-and-white version of Werewolf by Night will also be available on Hulu starting today until October 31 as part of their "Huluween" celebration.

This is an interesting move from Marvel Studios and Disney+ since they are giving fans a chance to relieve the beloved special with a new version that might provide a different experience than the original since the visuals will be more vibrant.

While the special was released in black-and-white, it was actually shot in color. Director Michael Giacchino convinced Marvel Studios during post-production to have it released in black-and-white to recreate the aesthetics of the 1930s and 1940s horror films. Ultimately, his idea was approved.

It is curious to see what the experience of the colored version will be like, especially since the horror elements might be more different with the visuals looking more vibrant and it won't have the feel of the classic horror films that it was paying homage to.

Nevertheless, it is still fun Halloween content that Marvel Studios is offering to the fans to celebrate the spooky season this year, and, let's face it, they have no other new Halloween-related material that they can release yet for now.

The original Werewolf by Night is available to stream on Disney+.
