Ever since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios gained the rights to X-Men and Fantastic Four back in 2019, a lot of fans have been looking forward to seeing the mutants make their way into the MCU.

So far, the franchise hasn't fully utilized the X-Men library yet with a few exceptions such as Patrick Stewart's cameo as Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and easter eggs and references in various films and TV shows.

However, by next year, Marvel Studios is set to unleash more X-Men material with the release of Deadpool 3 which will feature the return of the actors from the Fox films to reprise their roles, and the animated series X-Men '97 which will serve as a continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series.

They are also slowly introducing the concept of mutants within the MCU as they teased with Kamala Khan in the final episode of Ms. Marvel and Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Now, it looks like Marvel Studios is finally gearing up to officially introduce the X-Men into the MCU soon according to a new report.

Deadline has revealed that Marvel Studios is set to begin looking for writers to pen the X-Men reboot this fall in lieu of the recent deal between the writers' guild and the studios that ended the strike last Wednesday.

The studio will be hearing pitches from different writers although there is no rush to fill the job since the film has not set a release date yet. It is likely that a writer won't get hired until early 2024.

This is exciting news for fans who have been looking forward to the MCU reboot of X-Men since it signifies that the project is now officially in development at Marvel Studios.

Given that it is still very early in the process and the meeting with the writers won't take place until a matter of a few weeks, it will take a while before we'll hear more significant updates regarding the progress of the project.

Nevertheless, it is a promising sign that fans have been waiting for ever since Feige teased the mutants' arrival in the MCU back in 2019 when the Fox acquisition happened and, now, it is officially one of the many projects that they are working on.

For now, as we're waiting to find out who will lead the mutants in the MCU, we will be witnessing the X-Men actors from the Fox films return to their respective roles in upcoming projects such as Deadpool 3 and have their moment one last time before they truly say goodbye to their characters.

Deadpool 3 is currently slated for release in theaters on May 3, 2024.
