Marvel Studios President On Kamala Khan’s Arrival In The MCU

Now that Brie Larson's Carol Danvers has finally found her way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to Captain Marvel, fans have also begun to wonder whether the end of the film would help bring out another Marvel favorite character – Kamala Khan.

Sitting down in an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirms that Kamala Khan might be introduced in the present day of the MCU. Though fans might be wondering if they'd already met a young Kamala somewhere in Captain Marvel, Feige insists that they still haven't at all.

"No. No. I mean Monica you've mentioned and it's not hidden. Obviously. It's right there. The answer is no. Cause I think Ms. Marvel is a contemporary story and I don't think she was born yet," the Marvel executive told the publication.

Not only does this help clarify Marvel's plans for Kamala Khan, but it also shows us that Feige wants to deliver a comic book accurate version of the hero. For those who aren't familiar with the character, Kamala Khan is Marvel's very first Muslim character to headline her own comic book series. A teenage Pakistani American, Khan gains shapeshifting abilities after discovering that she's actually an Inhuman during the "Inhumanity" storyline. Assuming Carol Danvers' old mantle, Ms. Marvel (Captain Marvel is her biggest idol), Khan turns to a life of superheroism.

Comic book readers loved Ms. Marvel, and the first volume of Kamala Khan's comic book series actually won the Hugo Award for best graphic story in 2015.

Hopefully, we get to see Kamala in the MCU soon.
