Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Says Captain Marvel Sequels May Be Set In The Past

Captain Marvel may have a long way to go to complete its theatrical run, but some fans are already eager to see Brie Larson's Carol Danvers in another standalone movie, something which Marvel Studios has clearly thought of already.

Speaking in a new interview with Screen Rant, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige teased the setting of Captain Marvel's potential sequels, saying that Carol Danvers' next few films could very well take place in the past, filling in for the time between Larson's debut and the events of Iron Man in 2008.

"We wanted to give her her own corner of the universe, her own mythology," Feige told the publication. "While we're not specific about this in the movie, there's potential to understand where has she been this whole time? Why haven't we seen her yet? The answer is revealed and hinted at in this movie as she was dealing with a colossal, universal conflict in another section of the MCU."

Marvel fans who've already seen Captain Marvel knows that Carol decides to leave Earth to accompany the Skrulls in space. The studio has every opportunity to explore all the different kind of space adventures Captain Marvel's been having while she's been away from the MCU.

The idea of a Captain Marvel cosmic space romp would certainly fit in with Marvel's planned cosmic universe. It would definitely expand the franchise even further.

Captain Marvel is currently screening in cinemas. Marvel's next entry for the year, Avengers: Endgame, is set for release April 26, 2019.
