Marvel Rising Animated Special Featuring Ironheart, Announced

Ironheart has been one of the more controversial characters to be introduced in the Marvel universe. Created by Brian Michael Bendis, Ironheart aka Riri Williams is often seen as either a decent addition to the Marvel roster or an agenda to please those that want more diversity in their comic books. However you feel, there's no doubt that she has been a big part of Marvel Comics lately, being a prominent part of The Champions and getting a new ongoing series soon.

Marvel has announced that Riri Williams and her costumed alias will be making her animated debut in Marvel Rising: Heart of Iron, where she will be joined by other characters like Squirrel Girl, Ms. Marvel, and Ghost Spider aka Spider-Gwen.

Riri Williams will be voiced by Sofia Wyle in this 44-minute special, which some fans are looking forward to. The most recent Marvel Rising film surprised fans with its quality so we might be able to expect something similar when it comes out. No release date has been revealed as of this writing, though Marvel did state that it would be coming in a later date.

Williams has been involved in a number of Marvel events as of late, playing decent parts in Secret Empire and Monsters Unleashed. She's appeared in smaller roles since and even got a new costume that gives her a more distinct identity, making her less of an Iron Man clone.

Riri Williams: Ironheart #1 comes out this November. She is also in this week's Champions #25, which has been advertised as a solid jumping-on point for new fans.
