First Trailer For Marvel Rising: Initiation Released

After being announced last year, we finally have the first trailer for Marvel Rising: Initiation, the upcoming series of shorts that will premiere on Disney XD. The series will focus on a diverse group of Marvel heroes like Squirrel Girl, Ms. Marvel, Ghost Spider (formerly known as Spider-Gwen), Quake, and others.

Judging from the trailer, these shorts won't be based on the series of one-shots Marvel is currently releasing but will focus on a new narrative that has Ghost Spider framed for murder. Funnily enough, this actually happened to the character during her Spider-Gwen series so any callbacks to the comic book arc would be appreciated by fans.

Marvel has stated that these shorts will be a prelude to the full-length animated feature, Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors, which will debut this fall. The shorts come to Disney XD on August 13, so fans curious about this new project from Marvel should check it out.

For those unaware, the Marvel Rising line will attempt to bring some of the publisher's lesser known heroes into the limelight. Focusing on some of the more diverse members of the Marvel universe, it's a good way to make these characters a little more popular. For the sake of more interesting and diverse heroes, here is hoping this ends up a success.
