Jonathan Majors was set out to be the next big baddie of the MCU as Kang the Conqueror in the Multiverse Saga. In fact, fans have embraced his performances in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Loki and are looking forward to seeing more of him throughout the next few years.

However, earlier this year, the Emmy-nominated actor's future in the franchise was put into question following his legal issues. He is scheduled to stand trial later this month as the judge recently denied his motion to dismiss the case.

So far, Marvel Studios has not officially laid out their plans for the future of Majors' Kang in the MCU amidst the controversies and some fans have speculated that they could still recast the role through the multiverse.

Now, it looks like the actor's days in the MCU might be over as a report has claimed that the studio is now considering moving forward without him.

In a recent report from Variety exposing the current state of the MCU, they revealed that Marvel Studios is now reconsidering their plans for Majors and the character Kang the Conqueror in the Multiverse Saga following the actor's recent legal issues.

Not only that, but the report also claimed that the studio was already considering moving away from the Majors-led phase due to the middling reception to Quantumania.

One of the backup plans that the studio is considering is to pivot to Doctor Doom as the next big baddie of the MCU. Recasting the role of Kang is also an option that they might consider.

However, the report also emphasized that shifting its plans could lead to major headaches for Marvel Studios since Kang was already being positioned as the "next big thing" in the MCU, especially in the current second season of Loki.

"Marvel is truly fucked with the whole Kang angle. And they haven’t had an opportunity to rewrite until very recently [because of the WGA strike]. But I don’t see a path to how they move forward with him," said a source who has seen the second season finale of Loki.

This is truly a difficult situation that Marvel Studios is facing since it is an issue that is partly beyond their control and they need to figure out very soon what to do with Kang in the next few years in order to keep the MCU running.

If they do end up recasting the role, it won't be a major problem in terms of explaining the changes since they can use the multiverse as an excuse to have a different actor play the role leading up to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Soon enough, we might be hearing more details regarding their new plans for the future of the MCU and it won't be surprising now if one of the aforementioned options will end up happening.
