Characters come and go in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From Tony Stark to Natasha Romanoff, the Avengers has lost key members over the course of the billion-dollar franchise. But there are some characters whose status remains shrouded in mystery, including Steve Rogers and even Wanda Maximoff.
Well, it appears that the Scarlet Witch's fate has long been decided and it's something avid fans of the character won't be thrilled about.

Scarlet Witch's Death Officially Confirmed by New MCU Timeline Book
According to the new book The Marvel Cinematic Universe - An Official Timeline, the closing moments of Doctor Strange 2 did see the demise of the Harbinger of Chaos, this is despite theories suggesting Wanda survived the aftermath of the destruction of Mount Wundagore.
A passage from the book (via Scarlet Witch Updates on X), now out in stores reads: "Fall 2024 | 838-Wanda gathers the boys and assures the heartbroken Scarlet Witch they'll be loved. [616-Wanda] destroys Wundagore—and collapses it upon herself—ending two great threats to all of the Multiverse."

Of course, this jaw-dropping confirmation isn't a clear indication that we've seen the last of Wanda, especially considering she has the ability to resurrect herself through Chaos Magic.
And let's be honest, the character's popularity skyrocketed the last couple of years and it would be foolish for Marvel to just write her off completely.
However, it's worth mentioning that Elizabeth Olsen's MCU status remains uncertain and the actress herself has said previously that she wants to distance herself from the franchise to work on other acting projects.
