Mark Ruffalo is certainly more careful about dropping spoilers from his Marvel Cinematic Universe films these days. However, what the Avengers: Infinity War star had said in the past might still haunt him. Ruffalo may have revealed that the Hulk will develop an unlikely friendship with a surprising MCU character in Avengers: Endgame a full two years before its premiere.
Back in 2017, Ruffalo was promoting Thor: Ragnarok when he spoke to USA Today. The Infinitely Polar Bear actor teased on a lot of things, including Hulk's chatty mood and the relationship between the Big Green Guy and the Odinson. However, he also revealed that Hulk actually becomes friends with Rocket Raccoon in an upcoming Avengers film.
"It's a very funny relationship that the two of them have: First of all, it's the biggest superhero and the smallest. Just keeping them in a frame together is a feat and hilarious in itself," Ruffalo said.
If you've seen Infinity War, Bruce Banner and Rocket didn't actually share a scene together. After all, Hulk refused to emerge in the film while Bradley Cooper's character didn't arrive in Wakanda until the middle of the battle. Needless to say, the friendship between Hulk (not Banner) and the Guardian of the Galaxy could be something that will be seen in Endgame, which was shot at the same time as Infinity War.
Of course, there's still a possibility that we won't get to see Hulk and Rocket being buddies this year. Endgame has been subjected to several reshoots so the scene might not even make it to the final cut. Nevertheless, we are hoping to see this odd couple getting chummy this April.
The synopsis for Endgame reads as follows:
"After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers assemble once more in order to undo Thanos' actions and restore order to the universe."
Avengers: Endgame will premiere on April 26.
