Man of Steel’s Michael Shannon In Talks To Join Star Wars Director Rian Johnson’s New Movie

Last week, word came out that Marvel's Captain America star Chris Evans was joining Rian Johnson's next movie, Knives Out. Now, it looks like the Star Wars: The Last Jedi director is looking to recruit Academy Award-nominee, Michael Shannon.

According to a new report by Variety,Man of Steel and Shape of Water star Michael Shannon is currently in active talks to join Knives Out ahead of the film's beginning of production in November. If the negotiations come out well, Shannon will be one of the many big-name stars in Johnson's new movie. The film's current cast members already include James Bond actor (Spectre, Casino Royale, Skyfall, Quantum of Solace) Daniel Craig, Marvel's Chris Evans, and Sorry to Bother You's Lakeith Stanfield.

Right now the cast's respective roles in Knives Out are being kept secret, however, we're hoping to learn more about the different characters in the film as production moves along next month. There isn't that much information about the film's plot either, however, word has it that the film has been "described as a modern-day murder mystery in the classic Agatha Christie whodunit style."

Johnson's fans will know that for the filmmaker, this is a return to form. Before taking a dip into the big-budget franchise pool by directing The Last Jedi, Johnson's made a name for himself working on indie movies with a detective narrative and science-fiction elements. Examples of such films include Looper and The Brothers Bloom.

Knives Out doesn't have a release date yet, but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get a word.
