The first two Maleficent films were huge box office hits partly due to Angelina Jolie's wonderful performance and star power that pulled a lot of the audience to see her play the iconic Sleeping Beauty villain.

Maleficent 3 Confirmed with Angelina Jolie Back on the Role
In a recent profile from the Wall Street Journal on the actress, it was revealed that Jolie has signed on to return in a third Maleficent movie.
However, they didn't provide any more details regarding the director and writer that are attached to the project or the plot details of the villain's next outing.
While it might take a while before the film will officially move forward to production (if it does get a formal greenlight), this is still an exciting update since it confirms that the actress is committed to playing the role again in the future.
Regardless of what the story of the film will be, it is going to be helpful to have Jolie back on board to play the role given that her performance will be the main attraction for many audiences.
