In the last battle between Itadori and Mahito, the special-grade cursed spirit tried everything to break the young jujutsu sorcerer.

From killing Kento Nanami and his beloved friend, Nobara Kugisaki, Mahito almost broke Itadori’s spirit.

Fortunately, Itadori’s drive and big help from his “best friend” and brother, Todo, infused new energy into the battle.

Todo encouraged Itadori to give his all, and in return, he started operating at 120% of his latent potential.

Mahito did manage to overpower the duo, but Itadori turned out to be extremely strong for Mahito.

In a desperate attempt to win, Mahito deployed the 0.2-second Domain Expansion, a technique he saw Satoru Gojo use.

Despite managing to sever Todo’s hand, Mahito failed to overcome Todo and Itadori’s brutal attacks.

Even with a newfound understanding of his true soul, he could barely inflict any damage, and Itadori delivered a decisive Black Flash confirming Mahito’s terrible defeat.

Facing defeat, Mahito was left with no transfigured humans. Meanwhile, Itadori advanced slowly toward the defeated Mahito.

Fans believe that it was at this moment that Mahito realized that his end was near. Itadori announced that he is just like Mahito, who reverted to his normal state.

Fans believe that Mahito saw the sheer determination in Itadori’s eyes to fulfill his role as a sorcerer and kill curses. Finally, Mahito decided to run away from him.

Soon Mahito and Itadori were transported to a different place outside of Shibuya, which appeared like a forest covered in snow.

Interestingly, this sudden transportation to a snowy forest is used by the makers as a metaphor, and fans are likening it to Adele's Skyfall.

If we look closely, just before this moment unfolded, Itadori declared to Mahito his relentless intent to hunt down every time he resurfaced.

The snowy forest here symbolizes the coldness in Itadori’s heart toward curses. There are also rabbits and wolves showcased in this particular sequence.

It seems that Mahito is the rabbit, serving as the prey, while Itadori, symbolizing the presence of wolves, takes on the role of the hunter.
