While the second season is still in full swing, a new Made in Abyss Season 2 OVA was announced, and it will star Prushka as the main character.
The announcement of the OVA was made via the official Made in Abyss Twitter account. There, info about the upcoming bonus episode was revealed.
The Made in Abyss Season 2 OVA will be available as part of the Season 2 Blu-Ray and DVD Volume 1.
This physical volume release will include episodes 1 to 6 of the second season, and it will be available on October 26 for JPY 18,000 and JPY 16,000 for the Blu-Ray and DVD, respectively.
As for the OVA, it is a short film entitled “Together with Papa” that will star Prushka as the main character.
Considering the events of the Dawn of the Deep Soul movie, Prushka is likely joined by Bondrewd in the upcoming OVA. This is because the fearsome White Whistle serves as Prushka’s beloved father figure.
While no details regarding the OVA’s story were revealed, it’s likely that this will not feature protagonists Riko, Reg, and Nanachi.
It’s also likely that this will be an OVA that’s shorter than a typical episode given how it’s called a bonus mini animation.
Based on the teaser image and some screenshots that have surfaced online, it seems that the OVA will feature an old-school cartoon style of animation.
Made in Abyss is an anime series by Kinema Citrus that’s based on the ongoing manga of the same name by Akihito Tsukushi. It started serialization in Web Comic Gamma back in October 2012.
The series follows Riko, a young orphan girl who lives in the town of Orth that’s situated beside a giant hole called the Abyss. This Abyss is explored by “cave raiders” who train all their lives to withstand the perils of descending.
Aside from being populated with dangerous monsters, the Abyss also has a curse where people who climb back up after descending will experience debilitating effects.
Season 1 consists of 12 episodes and was released in 2017. It was then compiled into two anime movies in 2019. The season’s sequel is a movie entitled Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul which was released in cinemas in 2020.
The story continues in Season 2 (full title: Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun) which is currently ongoing.
