In just a few weeks, the upcoming Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) film Madame Web is set to finally arrive in theaters. It will be the first installment in the franchise that will focus on an all-female superhero team that is led by Dakota Johnson.

It will be the actress's first foray into a major franchise movie after starring in dramatic and comedic films throughout her career so far. Her casting in the film was also a surprise for many fans since the titular character was always depicted as an older woman.

However, as it turns out, Johnson's experience filming the movie wasn't easy as she candidly revealed in a recent interview.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Dakota Johnson opened up about her experience filming Madame Web and the difficulty that she endured since she had to act in front of a blue screen.

"I’ve never really done a movie where you are on a blue screen, and there’s fake explosions going off, and someone’s going, ‘Explosion!’ and you act like there’s an explosion," she said.

"That to me was absolutely psychotic. I was like, ‘I don’t know if this is going to be good at all! I hope that I did an okay job!’"

Despite that, Johnson was able to rely on director S.J. Clarkson to guide her in filming the CGI-heavy sequences.

She continued, "But I trusted her. She works so hard, and she has not taken her eyes off this movie since we started."

While the actress' comments might come off as being shady, it is also an understandable sentiment since she doesn't have a lot of experience in doing big-budget movies that are CGI-heavy and require working a lot with the chroma key tool.

Fortunately, as she also pointed out, she was able to have a good director on her side who was able to help her navigate the difficulties and overcome the challenges.

While we don't know yet whether the efforts were worth it in the end, it sounds like everyone involved in the film was satisfied with the outcome that they saw and, now, it's all up to the audience to weigh in on the work that they did for the groundbreaking entry in the SSU franchise.

Madame Web is set to release in theaters this February 14.
