This February, Madame Web will finally arrive in theaters. The new Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) film will introduce a new set of spider-powdered female heroes that is led by Dakota Johnson's titular character.

There have been rumors for a while that the film will have a connection to Spider-Man due to the alleged presence of Ben and Mary Parker in the story although the filmmakers have not confirmed the claims.

If the web-slinger does end up appearing, it opens up a question on which version they might reference between Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland.

Now, a new report has shed some light on the film's Spider-Man connection and the version that they're planning to connect to.

In a recent episode of The Hot Mic podcast, reporter Jeff Sneider shared some scoops about Madame Web and its planned reference to Spider-Man.

He revealed that Sony originally planned to have Andrew Garfield's version as the Spider-Man of the film's universe, but they decided that it would be the Tom Holland version instead.

In addition, the story was supposed to be set in the '90s. However, after the filmmakers realized that the timeline didn't match in correspond to Peter Parker's age, they underwent reshoots to remove any references to that era.

So far, Sony has not commented on the claims that Sneider made in his scoop.

If Sneider's report is true, it aligns with the long-time rumors that we've been hearing for the past few years regarding the film's Spider-Man reference. This time around, we have a word now that it is likely going to be the Holland version.

However, while the film may have a reference to the web-slinger, Sneider also clarified that it doesn't indicate that the character will have an appearance and he will only be referenced.

It is interesting to see how the upcoming film will handle the potential inclusion of Spider-Man and whether the Parkers do have some involvement in the story, which is not yet confirmed in the trailers.

If they end up referencing the Holland version, it opens up a question of whether it is the same MCU variant and how it will connect to that universe which itself opens a Pandora's box of more mysteries and questions.

Madame Web is set to release in theaters this February 14.
