Looks Like Margot Robbie Will Be in James Gunn's Suicide Squad After All

When initial reports of Margot Robbie no longer being in James Gunn's Suicide Squad popped up, fans were pretty surprised since many considered her portrayal of Harley Quinn to be one of the first film's highlights. Most people also associate the movie with Harley since the anti-hero has essentially become the face of this series, even in the comic books.

It looks like those reports jumped the gun a bit as an article from Forbes has stated that Robbie could be returning to The Suicide Squad, which could be great news. After all, having a star like Robbie and a director like Gunn could mean even more success for the sequel.

The report from Forbes stated that sources close to the movie's production claim that Robbie will indeed be in Gunn's debut film for DC. Funnily enough, this came from an update of the article that originally stated that she wouldn't be in the movie so this is fairly interesting. If she does return, it could open the door for other big-name actors to return, like Will Smith as Deadshot.

Various articles on The Suicide Squad have claimed that the film is either a soft reboot or a sequel to the 2016 DCEU movie. Since the movie simply added "The" in front of the film's original name, it's safe to assume that this could be a mixture of both since other movies have also done that. All we know for sure is that Gunn is helming the project and could be great because of his involvement.

The Suicide Squad is slated for an August 6, 2021 release.
