Leah Danvers (played by Isabella LaBlanc), 17, showed up as early as the first episode. Unfortunately, it was off to a bad start for her and her mom.

Instead of getting the time to focus on her work, Detective Danvers (Jodie Foster) had to pick her stepdaughter up from a concerning call from another parent.

As it turned out, Leah made a video "screwing a 15-year-old girl", which angered her mom, considering that the video could get hacked, leaked, and eventually "end up on porn sites."

Before Leah could defend herself, her mom had to arrest someone for drunk driving. She unconsciously had to show her rough side of police work to her daughter.

Leah may not seem like it, but she is attempting to grow closer with her, despite not being entirely related to her. Leah is the daughter of Liz Danvers' deceased husband.

It was implied in the episode that they "never" talk about "the incident", about the drunk driving incident they encountered earlier, which could mean that Leah lost her dad the same way.

True Detective Season 4 has a lot to work on between these two. But for now, here's the actress who plays Leah Danvers.

Isabella Star LaBlanc's Popularity Rises From HBO Series

It is worth mentioning that before playing a bigger role in the HBO Max series True Detective: Night Country, Isabella Star LaBlanc was Elfrina in the 2022 TV series Long Slow Exhale for eleven episodes, and Donna Rivers in the 2023 iteration of Stephen King's Pet Sematary: Bloodlines.

Prior to her on-screen acting debut, LaBlanc previously starred in a couple of stage roles in Twin Cities theaters such as The Wolves, Little Women, and Is Edward Snowden Single?

For now, she hopes to do more about telling Native stories, which includes Leah Danvers, who is still learning to embrace her Indigenous roots.

It remains to be seen if we'll be seeing much more about Leah Danvers apart from being the step-daughter of the Detective, however, we'll have to wait and see as more episodes release over the weeks.
