Last week, we found out that Donald Glover and his brother/writing partner Stephen Glover were tapped by Lucasfilm to take over the writing duties for the long-gestated Star Wars series Lando prior to the writers' strike.

Before the news broke, Justin Simien, who was previously attached to write the series, revealed in several recent interviews that he wasn't unsure about whether the series is still happening which put the status of the project in question.

The brothers' involvement as the new writers of the series is an exciting update for fans since it shows that the project is still happening and it is definitely a sign that Donald is also likely to reprise the titular role.

Now that the public has learned of the Glovers' taking over of the project, the former writer of the series has also responded to the news surrounding his replacements.

As reported by Bespin Bulletin, Simien posted his reaction to the Glovers' taking over of the Lando series on his Instagram stories where he revealed that he was finding out the news at the same time as the public was also learning about it.

"This is me finding out rn [right now]," he wrote in his post.

However, in a follow-up story, the Haunted Mansion director expressed his support and excitement for the siblings' involvement in the project as he is "glad" that they were the ones that were tapped to take over the series.

He said, "Donald is a National treasure. Glad he and Stephen get to carry the character forward their way. Can’t wait to see. Rooting for everybody Black."

Based on his words, it sounds like Simien holds no ill will towards the Glovers' involvement in the project that he was originally involved in and he will be supportive of their vision and take for the long-gestated series.

Above the Line reported when they broke the news that Simien left the project last year as he was busy working on Haunted Mansion. Lucasfilm approached the Glovers to take over the project and got excited after hearing their pitch.

The siblings' involvement was held top secret for months as they joined the project prior to the writers' strike and they are expected to continue working on the script once it is over.

When Simien was playing coy about his status in the project during the interviews, the report claimed that he was "likely simply toeing the company line with his affirmative response" and "not wanting to make waves on the eve of his new film’s premiere in theaters."

It is unfortunate to hear, however, that Simien was not informed in advance of the news becoming public since it is clear that he was clueless about the Glovers' involvement. Hopefully, he was really able to make peace with it and move on from the initial chaos or issue that the news resulted in.

Lucasfilm and Disney+ have not set a release window yet for Lando.
