Who Is Lamina in The Hunger Games?

Lamina (played by Irene Boehm) was the female tribute reaped from District 7 in the 10th Hunger Games. District 7 provides lumber and paper to the Capitol. Its citizens are also known to be skilled with axes, which explains Lamina’s skills with the weapon.

Lamina’s mentor for the Hunger Games was Pliny “Pup” Harrington. During the first mentor-tribute meeting, Lamina couldn’t stop crying, and so it appeared that she was one of the weaker tributes.

However, during the Games, we see that she also has a chance of winning just like the other stronger tributes. As mentioned earlier, she’s skilled with an ax, and she’s also a skilled climber. She was also able to survive the bloodbath by hiding.

Later on, she takes the first kill of the Games by killing Marcus, the tribute from District 2 who was left hanging near death after attempting to escape during the bombing at the arena.

Lamina's fellow tribute from District 7, Treech, left her to form an alliance with Coral and her team.

Some fans were rooting for her, but unfortunately, Lamina did not survive in the Games, as Lucy Gray Baird became the winner of the 10th Hunger Games.

Lamina’s Death in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Explained

Lamina died on the third day of the 10th Hunger Games. Lamina was killed by Coral, with the help of Mizzen and Tanner. The three went after Lamina, and Coral managed to plunge her trident into Lamina’s abdomen.

She then fell to her death. Lamina placed 10th out of the 24 tributes of the 10th Hunger Games.

Some fans noted some changes to Lamina’s character, with one fan on Reddit saying that Lamina puts up a nice fight in the book, but this wasn’t seen in the film.

Other fans also noted how 71st Hunger Games victor Johanna Mason’s strategy was similar to Lamina’s strategy. Both come from District 7, after all.

Despite Lamina not winning the 10th Hunger Games, she’s a character who will always be remembered by Hunger Games fans.
