The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a prequel that takes place 64 years before The Hunger Games. It follows a young Coriolanus Snow, who is the last hope for his failing lineage, the once-proud Snow family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. Poland

The Capitol Arena in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

The inside of the Capitol Arena is the Centennial Hall in Wroclaw, Poland. The Centennial Hall is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This historic building was designed by German architect and urban planner Max Berg. In the film, the Centennial Hall becomes the arena of the 10th Hunger Games.

Like the previous Hunger Games films, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes also features scenes at a lake. For the Hunger Games prequel, scenes at the lake were filmed at Zalew Grzedy, Poland.

Germany

Scenes at the Capitol were filmed at many places in Berlin, Germany.

For Heavensbee Hall, the place where the mentors for the 10th Hunger Games watched the Reaping ceremonies, the exterior scenes were filmed at the Altes Museum in Berlin, Germany, while the interior in the Bärensaal at the Altes Stadthaus, which is also in Berlin.

Classroom scenes were filmed at the Tieranatomisches Theater (Veterinary Anatomy Theater) at Humboldt University of Berlin. The scenes that take place at Dr. Volumnia Gaul’s lab were filmed in Krematorium Baumschulenweg in Berlin.

In the movie, the tributes for the 10th Hunger Games were brought to the Capitol Zoo upon arrival at the Capitol. They were held there until the Games began. Scenes at the Capitol Zoo were filmed at Britzer Garten in Berlin, Germany.

Other scenes of the film were also shot at the Monument to the Battle of the Nations (Völkerschlachtdenkmal in German) in Leipzig. It is one of the largest monuments in Europe and was built for the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Leipzig.

The film also features Strausberger Platz as part of the Capitol. Some scenes were also filmed at the Olympiastadion in Berlin and the Landschaftspark in Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia.
