Kumiko Takahashi (not to be confused with Rumiko Takahashi of Urusei Yatsura fame) is a Japanese animator who was a member of studio Sunrise.

Takahashi is an anime industry veteran as she got her start in the early 80s working on titles like Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and the original City Hunter.

Since then, she has continued to work on new entries in the said franchises. For instance, Takahashi provided character design work for Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and the City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes movie.

Perhaps her best-known works are the anime adaptations of manga artist group CLAMP’s titles. Takahashi was the chief animation director of Cardcaptor Sakura, Inuyasha, and CLAMP in Wonderland.

Along with these, Takahashi was a key staff member in iconic 2000s titles like the original Fullmetal Alchemist, Ouran High School Host Club, and Darker than Black.

To celebrate her long and illustrious career, an art book featuring Takahashi’s illustrations and artwork will be released soon in Japan.
