The Megumin-focused Explosion spin-off has finally ended after the 12th episode, but fans have more to look forward to as a new KonoSuba Season 3 visual was released that confirmed the show’s 2024 release date.
While it has taken quite some time, fans can finally look forward to a proper new KonoSuba season starring Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness.
There are not a lot of details yet about the new season, though it will be set after the Legend of Crimson film, and it is believed to begin in Volume 6 titled Princess of Six Flowers.
Explosion Spin-off Ends and KonoSuba Season 3 Is Highlighted Following the Finale
It was with much excitement that two KonoSuba anime projects were announced back in 2021.
The first of these is the proper third season of the anime, as well as a series based on the An Explosion on This Wonderful World! light novel spin-off.
While many fans were hoping to see the third season get released first, it was decided that Megumin’s spin-off will be the first to release.
This new anime began in April 2023, and it explored Megumin’s backstory.
Specifically, the spin-off shows how Megumin got into explosion magic and how she started her journey to Axel.
Megumin only met Kazuma and Aqua in Season 1, so fans didn’t expect her to have an encounter with her future party members. Though the other three did have hilarious cameo appearances in the last couple of episodes.
Finally, the Megumin spin-off ended with an explanation of why Megumin and Yunyun decided to part ways.
It also showed the lead-up to Megumin asking to join Kazuma and Aqua’s party.

KonoSuba Season 3 Will Be Released in 2024
Shortly after the spin-off’s last episode, the official KonoSuba Twitter account shared a new visual that hypes up the upcoming third season.
While it doesn’t reveal much, the visual features Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness happily walking toward their new adventure, with Kazuma following with a dismayed expression in the background.
Based on the events of Volume 6 though, Kazuma will meet an interesting new character as they seek an audience with the Crown.
KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! Season 3 is set to release sometime in 2024, though there’s no word yet on a specific release date.
What we do know is that the third season will be animated by Drive, the same studio behind the Explosion spin-off.
