The Kingdoms of Ruin is an action, drama, and fantasy anime that made waves in the anime community in the 2023 fall season due to its unique premise, edgy production quality, and themes of revenge and violence. Now that it’s ending, will there be a Kingdoms of Ruin Season 2?

Some could mistake The Kingdoms of Ruin for a light novel, but it is actually based on a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by yoruhashi. It is a direct sequel to yoruhashi's previous work, The Kingdom of Caliburn.

If we take a closer look at The Kingdoms of Ruin’s source material, the first season almost covered seven volumes of the manga series.

There are only eight manga volumes as of writing, which means the anime may face continuity issues if Season 2 happens in a year or two.

However, the anime’s production committee can also opt to deviate from the source material and create an original story worthy of a second-season production. This is a rare occurrence, so don’t get your hopes up.

It’s also possible that they will adapt the prequel series, The Kingdom of Caliburn, while the creator works on more chapters for the manga.

On the other hand, a movie sequel can also be a possibility, given the number of anime shows getting movie adaptations instead of TV anime for a sequel.

For instance, Chainsaw Man, which already announced the Reze arc movie adaptation.

For now, you can look forward to more chapter releases to follow Adonis and Doroka’s endeavors in The Kingdoms of Ruin.

As explained above, The Kingdoms of Ruin Season 2 has not yet been confirmed, making it difficult to predict when it will be released.

But this will not stop us from making some speculations once it has been announced.

Usually, an anime’s second season arrives a year after its announcement or after its final episode. This is the norm, so we’re expecting that The Kingdoms of Ruin Season 2 may arrive in 2024 in the fall season.

Unfortunately, The Kingdoms of Ruin doesn’t have enough source material for a second-season adaptation, which complicates our release date prediction.

This gives us a reason to assume that it will take two or three years before we see the anime renewed for Season 2.

The Kingdoms of Ruin Season 2 Cast Predictions

  • Kaito Ishikawa (Karaku in Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc) as Adonis
