Kingdom Hearts 3 is going to sell a lot of copies based on name value alone but the gameplay trailer and various reports have gotten fans excited, showing a beautiful and fun action RPG. If there is one jarring thing about the game, it's when Sora, Donald, and Goofy interact with the characters from Pirates of the Caribbean: World's End. Seeing Sora, an anime-like character, interact with Disney characters is weird enough but to see him with photo-realistic ones is just weird.
Square Enix shared a promo image of Sora with Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner. To be frank, this is really jarring as the character looks really out of place when next to these two. It doesn't mean that the game is ugly, far from it to be honest, but yeah, this is just an odd image to look at.
On the bright side, if Disney were to ever make a proper Pirates of the Caribbean they should use this in-game engine. Honestly, the character models are on point and it would be cool to see an open-world Pirates game. Then again, you can just play Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag for that experience.
Plus, Pirates of the Caribbean is getting rebooted without Depp, so don't expect any games with these characters after Kingdom Hearts 3.
Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out in 10 days, on January 29 for PS4 and Xbox One.
