Killing Eve Spin-off Reportedly in the Works Featuring a Surprising Lead

Ahead of the Killing Eve season finale, it looks like we are getting another story to unravel now that a spin-off was officially confirmed by Laura Neal, head writer of Killing Eve season 4. However, fan-beloved Eve and Villanelle will no longer be the core of the spin-off, and will now follow Fiona Shaw's Carolyn Martens, and her beginnings as a brilliant spy.

Laura Neal recently hinted at the expansion of the well-acclaimed BBC America series, and AMC Networks President of Original Programming Dan McDermott also previously discussed expanding the well-acclaimed series. While some fans thought that a potential film adaptation will follow the season finale, seems like the new BBC America spin-off will come first.

The spin-off series will be a prequel focusing on Fiona Shaw's Carolyn Martens in her beginnings as a brilliant spy, and of course, the emergence of The Twelve, the organization that Eve and Carolyn are hunting. The Twelve plays a vital part in the series, and even though Killing Eve is almost close to wrapping things up, viewers still don't have much idea about what The Twelve really is.

This might be a piece of bad news for the fans as the spin-off will no longer follow Sandra Oh's Eve Polastri and Jodie Comer's Villanelle and their prolonged cat-and-mouse chase that lasted for four seasons.

Killing Eve follows Eve Polastri, an MI6 agent who develops a strange fascination with a deadly Russian spy, Villanelle, while she is hunting her down. Carolyn recruited Eve to work for MI6 to hunt down Villanelle, however, as the series progresses, it appears that Carolyn is a crooked agent. It would be interesting to have a more descriptive backstory for Carolyn, as she is totally mysterious throughout the series.

Killing Eve is based on the Villanelle novel by Luke Jennings. The multi-awarded TV show is now three more episodes ahead of its finale, and viewers can finally witness Eve and Villanelle's conclusion.

BBC America airs Killing Eve's new episode weekly, every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
