Keanu Reeves Reveals the Heavy Cost of Playing John Wick

The John Wick saga is one of the most highly praised productions, and its recent installment, John Wick: Chapter 4, has already managed to set a new record for the action-thriller franchise after receiving a 93% critic score from Rotten Tomatoes before its theatrical release. Due to the narrative’s great visuals and gripping sequences, viewers are always left hooked and amazed, but Keanu Reeves, who starred in the titular role, recently revealed that there are unpleasant circumstances that occur during their shooting that take a toll on him and the crew.

Reeves plays John Wick, a former assassin who is forced to return to his life of crime after the sudden death of his wife and is ambushed and robbed by a band of thugs. While speaking to Comic Book, the actor tackled the process it took to create the fourth movie, from the action scenes to the injuries that were acquired in the process of filming.

“Well, I mean, everyone is pretty tired – but it’s the best kind of tired. It’s like you climbed a mountain, and now you’re resting; like you finished the game and you won. So in terms of accidents: I made a mistake once, I cut a gentleman’s head open. So that really f–g sucked (excuse my language). But other than that, oh, one guy got hit by a car. He was in the car, so he had to go to the hospital, but he was okay.” narrated Reeves.

He added, “All of this to say: that you do have to take care. But it’s great that everyone [on set] is watching out for each other. So there’s some bruising and aches and pains, but [imitates official PSA announcement] ‘No humans were harmed in the filming of this motion picture!'”
