Kathleen Kennedy Debunks Kevin Feige's Abandoned Star Wars Project

Back in 2019, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was rumored to be developing an untitled Star Wars project alongside Loki writer Michael Waldron. As the potential project has previously been reported to have been shelved, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy debunks there was no Star Wars movie at all.

“Kevin Feige’s project was something announced in the press, or I suppose, fandom. But there was nothing… Nothing ever got developed.” Kennedy said while speaking with IGN at Star Wars Celebration 2023, “We never discussed an idea. As everybody knows, Kevin is a huge Star Wars fan. If he did come up with something, I would be all ears. But that’s never really happened. So it’s not an abandoned project. It just never really happened.”

As for the other potential Star Wars project that have been deemed ‘shelved’, too, Kennedy sheds light on how they don’t necessarily ‘shelve’ projects:

“Well, those things haven’t been shelved. Development is a complicated, long-term process. Some people, we’re dealing with scheduling.” Kennedy said, “Because obviously, really talented people are working. So it’s often not a ‘shelving’. It’s just an ‘Is it ready?’ That’s really what it comes down to…”

Considering that Feige still has some trouble in keeping up Marvel Phase 5 on its highest quality, along with Disney Shake-Up dealing with massive layoffs, the big Marvel boss already seems to have his hands full with one franchise.

Like Kennedy said, it’s possible that Feige had an idea but has no time yet to even pitch the project, seeing as the multiple MCU films and series delays are already wreaking havoc over Marvel Studios’ future.

For now, Daisy Ridley is set to return to the franchise as Rey Skywalker in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s untitled film, and Ahsoka finally receives its official teaser trailer, which you can watch below:

Daisy Ridley’s Episode X is still being kept under wraps, and Ahsoka has yet to get its confirmed release date, but is expected to be released in August this year.
