Hugh Jackman's return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 still feels like a huge pipe dream at times. While he is expected to stick around in the MCU for a couple more years, potentially until Avengers: Secret Wars, he won't be Earth-616's "main" Wolverine.

As it stands, we still don't know what Marvel Studios' plans are but the rumor mill hasn't stopped spinning when it comes to casting possibilities, with names like Taron Egerton and Daniel Radcliffe being thrown into the mix.

However, there's one actor who fans believe could play a convincing version of Logan in the MCU, and surprisingly enough, it's someone who's already been involved in the billion-dollar franchise in the past.

Karl Urban, who previously played Skurge in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok has long been on the fans' radar as a possible candidate for the Wolverine role. And after seeing his badass performance as Billy Butcher in Amazon Prime's The Boys, it convinced many that he could give the Logan character justice.

A new video created by YouTube user stryder HD with the help of deepfake and AI technology imagines Deadpool 3's opening scene with Urban as Wolverine in action and it's nothing short of spectacular. Check it out here:

Urban is well aware of the clamor but believes he's not the right man for the job. Speaking with The Guardian in May 2022, the actor said: "It’s flattering, but you have to rationally think about it."

He added: "I’m what, two years younger than Hugh Jackman? I mean, if I was a studio looking to cast someone as Wolverine, I’d pick someone I’ll get three films out of. You’re not going to get three films out of Karl Urban unless you want a 65-year-old Wolverine."

Urban certainly looks the part judging by the video and it won't be the first time a former MCU actor would be given a brand new role. But he does raise a valid argument regarding his age. That's not to say though that he can't play a variant of Wolverine, right?

Meanwhile, Deadpool 3 is slated for theatrical release on July 26, 2024.is
