Studio Ghibli's The Boy and the Heron (formerly titled How Do You Live?) gathered quite an impressive ensemble for its English cast. The animated flick features the likes of Robert Pattinson, Florence Pugh, Christian Bale, and Mark Hamill. But one name appears to be familiar — who does Karen Fukuhara voice in Hayao Miyazaki's The Boy and the Heron?
Where Have You Seen Karen Fukuhara Before?
The Boy and the Heron assembles some of Marvel and DC's biggest stars in Gemma Chan (Eternals), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy franchise), Robert Pattinson (The Batman), and Christian Bale (The Dark Knight trilogy). But did you know that another DC star is part of the voice cast?
Karen Fukuhara, who lent her voice in The Boy and the Heron as Lady Hami is best known for playing the role of Katana in the 2016 DC film, Suicide Squad.
Despite her limited screen time, Katana remained memorable to DC fans due to being the silent type in the bunch.
Fukuhara is no stranger when it comes to starring in superhero projects. Her most recent work includes Kimiko Miyashiro/The Female in Amazon's original series, The Boys.
Lady Himi's Role in The Boy and the Heron
Karen Fukuhara's role as Lady Himi in The Boy and the Heron is described as a 'magical young woman who is set to aid Mahito (Luca Padovan) and Kariko on their journey through the alternate world that Mahito finds himself in.'
This isn't Fukuhara's first time in voice acting as she already had experience lending her voice as Glimmer in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and the main character in Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.
The official synopsis for Studio Ghibli's The Boy and the Heron reads:
Mahito, a young 12-year-old boy, struggles to settle in a new town after his mother's death. However, when a talking heron informs Mahito that his mother is still alive, he enters an abandoned tower in search of her, which takes him to another world.
