What is Kaiju No. 8 About?
Kaiju No. 8, also known as Monster #8, is an action-adventure and sci-fi manga created by Naoya Matsumoto that follows aspiring Japanese Defense Force member Kafka Hibino.
In a world where Kaiju monsters terrorize humanity, Kafka Hibino wishes to contribute his efforts as an elite member of the Defense Force.
His efforts, however, have waned since his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro, rose to fame as the famous commander of the Defense Force's third unit.
Kafka not only fails his entrance exams, but he also joins Monster Sweeper Inc's clean-up crew. His job entails caring for the dead bodies of monsters killed by the Defense Force.
Kafka meets a small, talking monster who flies right into his mouth one day. As a result, he transforms into a Kaiju!
Everything changes when Kafka is dubbed Kaiju No. 8 by the Defense Force and eventually the first one to escape from their radars.
Fortunately, Kafka retains full consciousness in his Kaiju form. Will Kafka retain his humanity and change the world with his superhuman strength and abilities?
Kaiju No. 8 Release Schedule
Kaiju No. 8 releases new chapters on a bi-weekly basis. This means that a new chapter is usually released every two weeks.
Prior to the schedule change, Kaiju No. 8 published new chapters every week for three weeks, followed by a one-week break.
The release schedule for the Kaiju No. 8 manga has been on a steady and consistent stream since its release.
So far, over 80 chapters of the Kaiju No. 8 manga have been released, along with 9 volumes. There are no signs that the manga will be ending anytime soon.
