Kaiju No. 8 has been one of the biggest Jump+ hits of the past years, but its popularity will likely soar this year. Aside from the upcoming anime project, the Kaiju No. 8: B-Side manga spinoff has finally started serialization in Shonen Jump+.

This new spinoff was announced in December, and its first chapter is finally out now, giving fans a fresh view of the series’ intriguing world.

With this new spinoff, Kaiju No. 8 fans should have enough content to tide them over until the anime premieres.

Along with Spy x Family and Dandadan, Kaiju No. 8 is one of the pillars of Jump+ as this series continues to be one of the platform’s biggest titles in terms of popularity.

Given how big its fanbase already is, it should come as no surprise that an anime adaptation is coming soon that’s being made by Production I.G. This studio is best known for working on titles like Haikyuu!! and Kimi ni Todoke.

This anime has been announced back in 2022, though it’s finally going to premiere in Spring 24.

In the leadup to the show’s premiere, there have been several trailers released that featured the show’s stacked voice cast.

For instance, the anime stars popular VAs such as Ai Fairouz (Jolyne Cujoh in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) and Kengo Kawanishi (Gen Asagiri in Dr. Stone).

If this isn’t enough content for fans, the new spinoff manga should no doubt delight, especially considering that it also features a notable character from the main series.

Titled B-Side, this spinoff follows Soshiro Hoshina, one of the main series’ principal characters. Along with Hoshina, this spinoff will also feature stories from the frontlines featuring new characters.

As B-Side is set mainly on the frontlines, this promises to be a fresh take on the world. After all, the main character Kafka’s ability means his experience is far from an ordinary soldier’s point-of-view.

Writing the spinoff is series creator Naoya Matsumoto in cooperation with Keiji Ando, the writer of the Kaiju 8-gou Micchaku! Dai-3-butai light novel.

Meanwhile, B-Side is illustrated by Kentaro Hidano, the creator of the Shonen Jump series Super Smartphone.

The spinoff’s first chapter is out now on Shonen Jump+, with updates promised every Friday. For now, there’s no word on how long this spinoff will be.
