Justice League Cinematographer Trashes the Film's Theatrical Cut

It doesn't matter if you like DC, Marvel, or both companies, chances are that you hated Justice League. While the movie did have fun moments, it was clear that a lot of studio meddling was done and in trying to please everyone, Warner Bros ended up pleasing nobody. Since that hot mess came out, we've had two successful movies in Shazam and Aquaman, though the stinky shadow of the film remains.

During a video interview with Comic Book Debate, cinematographer Fabian Wagner discussed the movie and how he hated the theatrical cut. Apparently, Wagner was not contacted for the reshoots since he was busy with other projects, so it seems like Joss Whedon didn't really have much to work with. If that didn't sound like a burial, check this out:

"It's really hard to say because I was watching it and I think I was crying all the way through. So it's hard for me to say exactly how much was changed, but a lot was changed. It looked very different. It's sad for me because I loved working with Zack; I had the best time of my life. There were many other things on that movie that made it so good apart from the fact that I was working with Zack and the whole gang. I met my wife on that job. There [were] a lot of other things. It was just a great shoot, and so it was a shame to see the film the way it turned out to be."

Wagner bringing up the shoots with Zack Snyder is going to get us even more antsy about a possible Snyder Cut for Justice League. Say what you will about Snyder but it's clear that whatever he worked on is much better than the final product we got, even if it does suck. At least it's his vision and not just some corporate pandering.

So yeah, #releasethesnydercut

Justice League is now available on Blu-ray and DVD.
