Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 may not be coming anytime soon, but fans have something to be excited about. That’s because Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 17 will get big changes in the Blu-ray release.
Details about the Shibuya Incident Blu-ray and DVD volumes 4 and 5 were revealed on the official Jujutsu Kaisen website. There, it was confirmed that the 17th episode will get a big update.
Moreover, special screenings of four episodes have also been announced in select Japanese cinemas beginning in late March 2024.
Four Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episodes Are Coming to Japanese Cinemas
The upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen screenings were announced to celebrate the upcoming release of the volume 4 and 5 Blu-ray. These screenings will feature episodes 41 to 44 (season 2 episodes 17 to 20).
While the special screenings won’t happen in all Japanese cinemas, fans in the country will be happy to know that these won’t be Tokyo-exclusive.
Participating theaters are listed on the official website, and they include 30 cinemas across Japan’s major regions, from the northernmost Hokkaido to Kyushu in the south. The screenings will happen from March 29 to April 4.
What makes them a must-watch is that these four episodes feature huge fights, including Sukuna vs Mahoraga and Yuji vs Mahito.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 17 Blu-ray Version to Feature Revised Cuts
The screenings will also feature the revised version of season 2 episode 17, which will be included in the Blu-ray release.
According to the official listing, the new version will have additional cuts and revised footage compared to the original 2023 broadcast version.
This is no surprise given that season 2’s 17th episode generated a lot of discussion when it first aired. Many talked about how dynamic it looked despite looking seemingly unfinished.
It’s unclear how huge the changes will be, but it’s fair to bet that the Sukuna vs Mahoraga fight will see big improvements.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 17 Blu-ray Version Release Date
Aside from the screening later this month, fans in Japan will be able to watch the revamped episode 17 on March 20, the day of the Shibuya Incident volume 4 Blu-ray release.
As for fans outside of Japan, the Blu-ray version likely won’t replace the broadcast version on streaming platforms like Crunchyroll. This is usually the case for most anime with enhanced Blu-ray episodes.
Fans will have to hope for an English Blu-ray release for the Shibuya Incident arc soon to watch this revised version officially.
