The long wait for the show’s return has begun, and many fans aren’t taking it well. But if you think about it, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2’s hiatus is sorely needed, both for the staff and the fans.

Jujutsu Kaisen made a huge splash this season with the action-packed Hidden Inventory arc. But following the fifth episode, the show entered its three-week-long hiatus ahead of the Shibuya Incident arc.

Even though the wait might be unbearable for many fans (especially anime-onlies), viewers might look back at this break as coming right on time.

Some viewers may have been blindsided by the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 hiatus, but MAPPA announced the show’s upcoming break weeks in advance.

While no exact reason was shared regarding the hiatus, it was likely decided to give the show’s staff more time to work on the Shibuya Incident.

After all, MAPPA is pulling out all the stops for this arc as it will get an entirely new opening from King Gnu. That’s not even counting the eye-popping animation of the first five episodes.

Even though it’s seemingly for a good reason, many fans can’t wait for the hiatus to end as the weeks-long break is unbearable given how excellent the opening episodes are.

But for some fans who have read the manga, the break might just be a blessing in disguise as it gives viewers a breather before the series’ arguably biggest arc ever.

Without getting into manga spoiler territory, the Shibuya Incident is one of the longest arcs in the manga. This arc moves at breakneck speed as it features a ton of fights.

More importantly, it will feature major events that will promise to shake up the world of Jujutsu Kaisen in more ways than one.

Because of this, some believe that the breather between the well-received Hidden Inventory and the massive Shibuya Incident arc is actually good for anime-only viewers.

Aside from fans, the extra time is definitely welcome for the show’s staff.

After all, MAPPA has been rocked by allegations of overworking employees, so it’s better for staff members to get more time.

Plus, the Summer 2023 season has already been hit with many anime delays, so it might be better to get this break now so that the Shibuya Incident arc will continue smoothly.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will return later this month with Episode 6.
