The epic battle between Satoru Gojo and Sukuna is finally on and Gege Akutami is taking inspiration from the classics. Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 224 somehow paid tribute to Yoshihiro Togashi's works Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter.
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 224: Gojo Vs Sukuna Begins
In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 224, Satoru Gojo finally began to fight Sukuna but not before exchanging some interesting words. Gojo accuses Sukuna of using Megumi Fushiguro's body to distract him. However, Gojo claims that it will only backfire because Megumi looks like his father Toji Fushiguro.
The fight is an epic one as the two managed to demolish several buildings before taking a break. But amidst the fight, both Gojo and Sukuna pulled off some familiar poses.
Fans were quick to note that Sukuna mimics Yusuke Urameshi's Rei Gun in one panel. In a different panel, Gojo puts his fists together just like Gon in Hunter x Hunter.
It's a cool nod to the classics and also a reflection of each character's strengths as well. Yusuke is possibly one of the strongest characters in anime and the same could be said about Gon. Both characters are the creation of Yoshihiro Togashi who has inspired many mangakas including Gege Akutami himself.
For now, Gege Akutami has not confirmed that Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 224 paid tribute to Yoshihiro Togashi. However, it wouldn't be a surprise if the mangaka confirms it.
The fight between Gojo and Sukuna is far from over and there is little doubt that things are going to be even more exciting in the next chapters. With that in mind, we can't wait for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 225.
In the meantime, the anime is set for its second season later in July. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will adapt the Gojo's Past arc (retitled Hidden Inventory / Premature Death Arc in the anime) and the Shibuya Incident arc of Gege Akutami's manga.
The second season will consist of two consecutive cours, the first of which will premiere on July 6, 2023.
