Jon Kasdan Confirmed that Anthony Ingruber Auditioned for Han Solo

Before (and even after) Alden Ehrenreich was cast as young Han Solo, there was a lot of clamoring from fans to have actor Anthony Ingruber for the part. Ingruber had plated a young Ford in Age of Adaline, and has even released this mock audition of him doing Han Solo impressions.

A lot of people were disappointed that Ingruber didn't land the role of Han Solo, but as revealed by Solo co-writer Jon Kasdan, Ingruber did audition for the part, but he just didn't impress enough to get the role.

Ron Howard has mentioned before that Lucasfilm's casting of a young Han wasn't just about doing a Harrison Ford impression. It was about embodying a feel and body language of a character—which apparently Ingruber wasn't able to land.

Though he does look like a young Ford, I bet everyone would be complaining how he "lacks a certain something" if he was ever cast as Han Solo.

Personally, I love the choice of Ehrenreich as Han. He may not be Harrison Ford, but he's charismatic and funny enough that I enjoy watching him in every scene. I bet in the future, people will even end up liking his Han more than the original. You may scoff at the idea, but I think it's possible.

As for Ingruber, it must be disappointing for him to lose the audition despite all the fan support. If anything, he can just keep on acting. Maybe he can get cast as a young Indiana Jones in a reboot?

Solo: A Star Wars Story is now in theaters.
