Years ago, there were reports that Emmy-winning actor Jon Hamm was in talks to play iconic X-Men baddie Mister Sinister in the post-credits scene of The New Mutants and become the main villain in a potential sequel.

However, his cameo didn't end up happening as the film was turned into a standalone story in the aftermath of the Disney acquisition of 20th Century Fox and resulted in the X-Men rights reverting back to Marvel Studios.

Since we're getting closer to the formal introduction of the X-Men into the MCU, it poses a question now whether there will be another chance for Hamm to join the franchise and finally play a Marvel character.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Hamm was asked whether he is interested in joining the MCU years after his planned appearance in The New Mutants was canned.

The Emmy winner, who admitted to being a Marvel Comics fan himself, stated that he is hoping to get another chance to join the Marvel universe and suggested that he could be part of the X-Men or Fantastic Four projects.

"I don't know. Those decisions get made at such a high level at this point, definitely above my pay grade. I would love to. I've been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was probably single digits. I think there are tons of stories that I'm familiar with, at least, that are still out there to be told," Hamm said.

"Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me. But if not, I know that they have a pretty deep bench of folks who are ready to be a part of those stories.

The actor continued, "There are certainly a lot of stories in the X-Men world to be told. Fantastic Four as well, [like] Doctor Doom. There are so many great things out there. But yeah, I hope I get a chance. Who knows?"

Knowing his talent as an actor throughout the years, it would be great to see Hamm show up in the MCU and play a pivotal character whether it's someone related to X-Men or Doctor Doom, which he also suggested and could also be an interesting casting choice.

It could also be his redemption after his failed casting in a Fox X-Men movie and perhaps Marvel Studios would also love to work with him in an upcoming project. It helps that the actor is also a Marvel fan so it might be an easier conversation if they are eyeing to cast him.
