Joker 2 Releases New First Look Photos as Filming Wraps

For the past couple of months, cameras were rolling on the upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to 2019's Joker which will bring back Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role. This time around, he is joined by Lady Gaga, who is taking on the role of Harley Quinn.

Now, after countless set photos online that gave us a glimpse of the film and its main characters' crazy antics, production has finally wrapped on Joker: Folie à Deux. The official social media accounts of DC have also released new first-look photos from the sequel.

One of the photos showed us our official look at Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, whose makeup is clearly reminiscent of the character that we know and love. She is also donning a bobcat haircut, which is different from the usual iteration that we've seen from the character.

The other photo showed us another look at Phoenix's Arthur Fleck, who is in full Joker makeup and costume.

Director Todd Phillips also posted the photos on his Instagram account where he wrote in his caption, "That’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together."

This is certainly exciting news for fans who are looking forward to the film and now all we can do is wait for its release which will be about a year and a half from now. For now, let's just wait and see whether there will be more updates on the film as they're entering post-production.

So far, the plot details remain under wraps, but it is reportedly going to incorporate musical elements as evidenced by set videos that show Gaga performing musical numbers. It is also confirmed to be part of the DC Elseworlds.

The cast also includes Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey. Aside from directing the film, Phillips also co-wrote the script with Scott Silver.
